In October 2018, we were booked to carry out a large decking and fencing project for a client in Eaton Ford, St Neots. The clients recently had some extension and building works completed and wanted to transform their neglected rear garden. The aim was to keep the garden as low maintenance as possible whils maxamising their outdoor space.

The first stage of the job was to clear the existing rotten and damaged fence line from a jungle of overgrown trees, ivy and brambles just to be able to gain access and remove the rotten fence and clear back overhanging vegetation.

After cutting, strimming an removing all the overgrown vegetation we managed to find the boundary fence line. We had to liase with the clients neighbours as the side boundary line crossed along 3 neighbouring properties. We did not want to leave open access for long due to security and pet issues. Photos below show old fence removal and clearing.

All the old fence and green waste from this side clearance was disposed in a 12 yard skip.

The client opted for a heavy duty closed board fence panel, concrete gravel boards and concrete fence posts for the new fence install along this boundary line. The heavy duty closed board fence panels are very strong and well made. As long as the panels are treated annually with a decent preservative and installed in conjunction with a gravel board, then the panels should last many years.

The new fence was a difficult install as the side boundary line tapered at different angles across the garden as well as a slope down the length of the garden.
