We were contacted by the client to provide a new stretch of gravel pathway at St James Church in the village of Spaldwick, Cambridgeshire. The pathway was very important to the client as it was to be a memorial for her late husband. The clients husband used to walk his dogs across the right of way at the church on a daily basis and also had great respect for the importance of the church setting as an impressive feature of Spaldwick Village.
The new footpath was to stretch across 20 meters of grass land. The new footpath had to look as natural as possible and blend into the existing gravel pathways at the churchyard. Great care and respect had to be taken as working close to exisitng graves around the church yard.
We measured and marked out the footpath, taking in account to make it flow naturally from the existing gravel pathway. We used a mini digger to excavate the ground and then levelled the area.
We ordered in 3 tons of pea gravel to match the existing footpaths. The gravel was layed and spread evenly across the new foot path. We also covered the gate area with gravel as this became very muddy during wetter weather.
The client was extremely pleased with the finished footpath and will serve as a lasting memorial to her late husband for years to come.
